She was falling asleep at the wheel. She had been driving for hours; no stop was in sight. The lamp posts barely lit the street, and they were few and far between. It was mostly a thick and dark forest and a blinding dark. Suddenly there was an opening, a bigger light up ahead.
She drove to the vacant parking lot, feeling like she almost hadn’t made it. It was a long and draining day. After grabbing the key, she went straight to the room. She walked through the door, flashing back to moments she spent with her brother when they were kids. She set her luggage aside and lay down on the bed. She had not seen him in so long, and she felt guilty she didn’t get to spend enough time with him before he passed away. She opened the drawer of the nightstand and took out the bible. A letter fell out of it. Her hands felt ice cold, and the bible was frozen to the touch. She picked up the letter and began to cry. It was from her brother. That night she dreamt her brother visited her and showed her the night he passed and the reasons why. The next morning, she went down to the police station and handed the police the suicide note, and they let his friend go.
